We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Social Work Intern to join our team. This internship will provide valuable hands-on experience in the field of social work, particularly focusing on aging issues and mental health counseling. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in supporting individuals and families within the community, while adhering to ethical standards and HIPAA regulations. This position is designed for students or recent graduates pursuing a degree in social work or a related field.
Duties
- Conduct patient assessments to identify needs and develop appropriate care plans.
- Provide counseling services related to aging issues, mental health, and general therapy.
- Assist in the documentation of medical records and maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive home community care for clients.
- Participate in case management activities, including follow-up on client progress and needs.
- Engage in applied behavior analysis techniques to support clients’ behavioral health.
- Attend team meetings and contribute insights based on client interactions and observations.
- Support the development of resources and programs aimed at improving client outcomes in geriatrics.

Requirements
Currently enrolled in a master’s program in social work, counseling, or related discipline
Ability to commit to a semester or year long internship
Ability to commit to a consistent weekly schedule
Strong communication, initiative, and interpersonal skills
A passion for working with diverse populations and a commitment to cultural competence and ethics
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to empathize with clients from diverse backgrounds.
Ability to perform patient assessments effectively and develop tailored intervention strategies.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail are essential for maintaining accurate records.
